Why did it take me so long to discover søciety6? The premise of søciety6 is similar to Threadless - artists can submit their work and then søciety6 will print your pieces on phone cases, canvases, prints, t-shirts, etc. This piece is one of my favorites from the site - Lennon Dog and Yoko Bunny by Oliver Lake.

The results of my very first attempt at creating something in Illustrator (that’s not some sort of promo poster for work). Not great but not terrible either…I think. Ok, it’s actually kind of pathetic but it’s my first try so be kind internet.

I recently visited Malibu and became enamored with the idea of the classic surfer’s woodie. Sadly, I didn’t see any woodies in Malibu except for on souvenirs but they are a ubiquitous image of  southern California beach culture. I don’t really love cars but I sometimes find myself attached to the idea of the car rather than the actual car itself. I’ve always wanted to learn how to surf, but sadly I’ve lived the majority of my life in Illinois so I never really had the chance - so I guess I will just obsessively research woodies instead.

This picture doesn’t really so these bowls justice. When you see them in person with light shining through they turn wonderful shades of neon. These are designed and sold by the store Art Style Innovation in Palm Springs, CA. I have two vases and a Christmas tree from the store and then on this most recent visit to the desert I added a try and some plastic flowers. I think my apartment might start to look like it’s drowning in neon.

I was introduced to this miraculous video at the Digital Media and Learning Conference after a long night of manning the YOUmedia booth at the Mozilla Science Fair. When library budgets were being cut in Ohio, a plucky librarian gathered her friends (including Jane of the YOUmedia location at Artlab+ at the Hirshhorn Museum who showed me the video) and asked a very important question. What do people watch on the internet? Answer: Kittens. This was the first time I was truly introduced to the educational power of the kitten - a lesson I will not soon forget.

This is one of the more unique rabbit rings I have discovered in my internet travels. It’s by the Hungarian company LIPI design and actually comes as a piece of plastic that you have to fold into the shape of the bunny. This fun isn’t just limited to rabbits - you can get fox, shark, dog and all other types of animal rings.
